Sky Ringside

Sky Racing pioneered Pay Per View boxing in Australia. In April 1987 ‘Marvelous’ Marvin Hagler defended his Undisputed World Middleweight Title against ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard in one of the biggest sporting events of the 80’s.

So began a long and successful relationship with Pay Per View boxing from around the globe.

Over the years Sky Ringside has become the spiritual home of boxing as we have showcased the rise and fall ring legends such as Mike Tyson, Roy Jones, Jeff Fenech, Kostya Tszyu and Oscar De La Hoya.

Sky Ringside’s distinctive coverage is superior to any other presentation. All our Pay Per Views are hosted out of the Sky studios and include interviews and boxing highlight packages to ensure our coverage is of the highest quality.

Each event is followed by our popular ‘Canvas Classics’ which are chosen from our massive boxing library. This means patrons stay at the venue long after the ‘live’ event is over, and thus ensures Publicans, who subscribe to Sky Ringside Pay Per Views, are obtaining added ‘value for money’ for choosing our coverage.

Upcoming Fights

Tua v Barrett

Just the sight of his menacing presence generates terror.

‘The Tuamanator’, David Tua is a wrecking machine in the mould of Mike Tyson.

His merciless and devastating style has seen him wreak havoc in the heavyweight division for more than a decade.

His left hook is the stuff of nightmares, and his killer instinct would see him incarcerated if boxing was outlawed.

While he’s been near the top of the division for most of his career, Tua is yet to taste championship success, and at 37, time is running out for this Samoan native.

His opponent, Monte Barrett, is more than just a warm body for Tua to pound on.

A two time world title challenger, he’s fought the best in the division, and while success may have eluded him at that elite level, he has the skill and experience to push the aging Tua into the middle to late rounds where he’ll come into his own.

In a must win situation for both men, this bout will be fought with the intensity of a championship contest, with the winner making a giant leap towards a final shot at glory.

Marquez v Diaz II

Juan Manuel Marquez is never in a dull fight.  Rated one of the best boxers on the planet, he’s thrilled fight fans for over 14 years with his pinpoint accuracy and explosive power.

Marquez fights as though his next meal depends on victory such is his hunger for success between the ropes.

A multiple world champion, who has fought some of the best three weight divisions has to offer, the Mexican is a proud warrior, who’s never backed away from a challenge.

The respect he enjoys today has been achieved through years of rugged conflict, and makes him a feared opponent even for the world’s elite combatants.

In his last fight he went the distance with Pound for Pound legend, Floyd Mayweather. Although outclassed by the American, he never gave up, despite the fact he was on the wrong end of a sustained beating.

In Juan Diaz he faces a boxer he knows well.  Just prior to the Mayweather showdown, he won a thrilling encounter with Diaz, a match-up which proved to be one of the best fights of 2009.

Diaz is a decade younger, and possesses enormous natural gifts as a fighter. He proved this before his 21st birthday when he defeated WBA Lightweight champion Lakva Sim to become the second youngest world champion in boxing history.

While he’s coming off a loss, he will be more determined than ever in the Marquez fight as a loss would be lethal to his boxing career.

Titled ‘Mexican Stand-Off’ this battle pits the experience and drive of Marquez, up against the talent and youth of Diaz.
