JP Dasher Go Go
Turned in an outstanding run for fourth to champion mare Curren Chan in the Group 1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen and should have at least finished in the placings. Did more work than most runners and was in the firing line all the way up the Chukyo straight but got nosed out of third by warm favourite Lord Kanaloa who got all the favours along the fence. World-class sprinter who represents great value in the same company.
SI John Of Arch
Lot to like about the run when an unlucky second at big odds to Illuminado over the Kranji 1600m last Friday. He’s no world-beater but the 7yo tends to win one most campaigns and has a handy strike rate approaching 20 per cent. He only needs to turn in a repeat to win a Stakes C race in the next couple of weeks.
SAF Celtic Fire
Was up there all the way, leading the field on the slow side of the track, when a gallant fourth to Castlethorpe at Fairview last week. That was a quality sprint 1200m field and the 5yo is probably better suited over 1400m so he can be backed with some confidence in the right race in the coming weeks.
NZ Sum Up
Motored home to run a close dead-heat fourth to Villifye in the Windsor Park Stud Japan Trophy over 1600m at Tauranga on Saturday and would have gone close to winning with another 100m. Top class middle distance performer cum stayer and the mile proved to be just too short. Rarely far from the money and can win one soon over 2000m or beyond.
