Canterbury

Best bet

Race 1 no.8 Our Fraulein $2 (rated $2, confidence 7/10)

***Hard to beat on form but worried the fence will be place to be and she won’t be there. THat's the little niggle***

Trialled well leading in and her only start last time in she got a long way back but found the line really well. Finds a pretty weak race here and the only negative I can find is whether the track is playing fence in run. We don’t have time to work that out though being race 1.

Best value

Race 3 No.3 Ondo Pasa $11 (rated $9) and no.7 Satin Rain tote (rated $11)

Open race and these two look over the odds- Ondo Pasa just got too far back last start and while the tempo is a concern here, she should be working home late. She gets through the conditions. Satin Rain put in the run of the day first-up for mine over 1000m. Goes 1000 to 1550m which is an obvious concern but she won her maiden over a mile last prep and I have to have something on off that fresh run.

Best roughie

Race 6 no.12 Newtown Bluebag $23 and $6 place (rated $16)

Just seems big odds here for a horse that flies this track and distance. Beat De Valera comfortably three starts back yet that horse is $5 here and he is $23. The wet track should be no issue for him either. Not on top but at the odds happy to have something each way mainly the place.

****No strategies tonight as want to see how this track plays****

Soft 7 conditions

Track assessment:

23/01/2019       Cant      3m        G3         On pace no real lanes but on pace a medium adv

15/02/2019       Cant      3m        G4         Not easy to win from the back as a rule but prob more tempo related. Reckon hard fence wasn't great. Seemed to be lanes 2-3 best.

22/05/2019       Cant      3m        G4         On pace first two lanes first four races and then wider and could run on later

3/07/2019         Cant      3m        S7          On pace aerly and fence in run seemed advantage on day but not everythung

25/09/2019       Cant      3m        S5          pretty fair

29/11/2019       Cant      3m        G4         Fence in run advantage and first two lanes in straight, not easy to make ground wide, on pace adv too

Assessment: Monitor but could be fence and on pace to be the spot early.
