R1 Chesham Stakes

September, represents Aidan O’Brien who won this last year with Churchill. A daughter of Deep Impact out of the trainer’s four time Group 1 winner Peeping Fawn, September could not have been more impressive on debut at Leopardstown, travelling strongly and quickening well for a decisive win. O’Brien’s runners tend to improve significantly for their first run.

Masar flew home at Goodwood to give Charlie Appleby yet another winning debutante this season. He took a while to get going and got a troubled passage so it was a smart debut.

Hey Gaman travelled strongly on debut and looked to have the race won when just touched off by Westerland who had the benefit of a run. He looks a nice scopey type who will only progress for James Tate.

Nyaleti showed speed and a good attitude winning at Salisbury on debut and will enjoy the extra trip.

Selections: 16 September, 8 Masar, 5 Hey Gaman, 15 Nyaleti

R2 Wolferton Handicap

Pacify ran well enough in the Spring Cup when beaten just over five lengths into mid-division. That was his first run since last June over a trip on the short side and he should be spot on.

Kidmenever, a former Swiss Derby winner, joined Charlie Appleby from France and put in two really promising runs over this trip in Meydan on the turf in February. He could be a decent prospect.

Mythical Madness took advantage of a low mark when winning at Haydock and although he’s gone back up five pounds, the extra trip and quicker conditions will only help.

Scarlet Dragon has top-weight but goes well first up and is progressive.

Selections: 16 Pacify, 7 Kidmenever, 12 Mythical Madness, 1 Scarlet Dragon

R3 Hardwicke Stakes

Dartmouth beat Highland Reel in this last year to continue a remarkable record for Sir Michael Stoute who has won the last three renewals and five of the last seven. Subsequently third in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes here, 2nd in Newbury Group 3 and second again in the Grade 1 Canadian International confirmed his as top class. He stepped up in distance to land the Yorkshire Cup 1st up and should be spot on.

Idaho was behind his brother Highland Reel and Frontiersman in the Coronation Cup but looked in need of the run. Placed in both the Epsom and Irish Derby, he added the Great Voltigeur and was so unfortunate to unseat in the St Leger. Loads of stamina and this has probably been the main target.

Second Step is worth a step up again following his battling Goodwood Listed win. He needs time between races nowadays.

Dal Harraild, a possible Melbourne visitor, loves quick ground and although ideally needs further he did win well at York.

Selections: 6 Dartmouth, 7 Idaho, 11 Second Step, 5 Dal Harraild

R4 Diamond Jubilee Stakes

Limato is top class at this trip and 1400 metres. He has a good record here with a Group 3 win and a second in the Commonwealth Cup back in 2015. Developed into a dual Group 1 winner last season including the Darley July Cup before finding the wide draw and the mile against him in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. He couldn’t handle the loose ground in Meydan but has his conditions now with Ryan Moore taking over.

Tasleet certainly enjoyed the return to sprinting on ground softer than ideal in the Group 2 Duke Of York back in May. He can really kick on now and make himself into a Group 1 sprinter for William Haggas and handled quick ground as a two-year-old.

Magical Memory had a slight setback so couldn’t get a pre run before trying to defend the Duke Of York. He travelled well but found the ground and race fitness against him. Closely matched with Tasleet.

The Tin Man likes it here and won the Champions Sprint at the end of last season. He too needed the run when fifth under a penalty in the Duke Of York.

Selections: 7 Limato, 12 Tasleet, 9 Magical Memory, 14 The Tin Man

R5 Wokingham Stakes

Culturati had been off since winning his last two as a juvenile in 2015 when successful in a good Newmarket handicap. Retained by Godolphin, he clearly has upside and talent and must be a major player off only a five pound higher mark.

Edward Lewis is progressive since joining David O’Meara and caught the eye when getting no room and running on into a length fifth in the Dash at Epsom. He has to be worth a step back up to 1200 metres.

Raucous has Ryan Moore booked and was well tried last season including over further here behind Ribchester in the Jersey. Subsequently third in the Group 3 Hackwood at Newmarket and has been consistent since.

Buckstay was fifth in this last year off a pound higher mark and finished off last season in good form over further. A fast pace will help and he goes well first up.

Selections: 27 Culturati, 17 Edward Lewis, 7 Raucous, 3 Buckstay

R6 Queen Alexandra Stakes

Thomas Hobson, now a Melbourne Cup hopeful, won the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday and superb style producing a devastating finish in a gruelling race. Willie Mullins was the last trainer to pull off the big race double in the same week with Simenon back in 2012 and should he line up, the seven-year-old would take a lot of beating.

Fun Mac was well beaten in the Gold Cup here last year but was runner-up in the 2015 Ascot Stakes off only a four pound lower mark. He ran a good third first up from a bad draw in the Chester Cup.

Qewy made a big impact on these shores, winning the Geelong and Sandown Cup while a superb fourth in the Melbourne Cup. He was second in the Ascot Stakes here last year and has to be in the mix again over this gruelling test.

Montaly was a strong finishing winner of the Chester Cup and has to be feared over this trip.

Selections: 13 Thomas Hobson, 3 Fun Mac, 12 Qewy, 11 Montaly
