Royal Ascot Day 3 Previews

R1 Norfolk Stakes

Ninebelowzero stepped up considerably on his debut success  with a really strong win at Windsor in what looked a good race. He has great acceleration and has looked very exciting.

Santry has enjoyed cut in the ground in winning a division of the Brocklesby before a really good York win in a good time. The ground is a question mark but he’s a really speedy type.

It Don’t Come Easy enjoyed a quicker surface when improving significantly from his debut to win a traditionally good Royal Ascot trial at Musselburgh.

McErin represents Wesley Ward who won this in 2013 and has obvious credentials.

Selections: 11 Ninebelowzero, 14 Santry, 7 It Don't Come Easy, 9 McErin

R2 Hampton Court Stakes

Mirage Dancer got absolutely no run behind subsequent Derby second Cliffs Of Moher in the Dee Stakes at Chester. Sir Michael Stoute’s Frankel colt would have been a live chance at Epsom and can gain compensation here.

Benbatl was second in the Dante and fifth in the Derby where he got too far back and made some great late progress.

Irishcorrespondent was not disgraced at all in testing conditions when third in the Irish 2000 Guineas behind Churchill. He’s a good looking sizeable colt who will only improve.

Orderofthegarter, for Aidan O’Brien, was sixth in French Derby when hampered early and being denied a clear run.

Selections: 9 Mirage Dancer, 3 Benbatl, 6 Irishcorrespondent, 11 Orderofthegarter

R3 Ribblesdale Stakes

Mori produced a really professional performance in stepping up successfully to Listed level at Goodwood in a quick time. She’s got a turn of foot but is a really strong galloper who looks like she will relish this trip.

Alluringly was second in the Cheshire Oaks and third in the Oaks itself at Epsom. She’s proven herself at the top level and seems certain to be up there again.

Coronet was a never nearer fifth in the Oaks and perhaps wasn’t suited by Epsom. She is maybe in need of a good test of stamina and a quick pace would help.

Astronomy’s Choice was third second up in Listed company. She’s a sizeable filly who should improve with time.

Selections: 8 Mori, 1 Alluringly, 5 Coronet, 3 Astronomy's Choice

R4 Gold Cup

Order Of St George was a convincing winner of this last year and ran third in the Arc. He got warm in the Long Distance Cup and it probably came too soon after France. He’s had an ideal prep in Ireland and sets a clear standard in the UK & Ireland staying ranks.

Simple Verse took a few runs to get going last season but ran a blinder first up when second in the Yorkshire Cup. A former St Leger winner, she was third in the Long Distance Cup last season and should stay.

Sheikhzayedroad is such a consistent and classy stayer and was third in this last year. He returns in form from Meydan and should be up there.

Big Orange returns from his overseas trips with credit and was far too good for Group 3 opposition at Sandown. He has always been best when allowed to dominate which won’t be easy here.

Selections: 3 Order Of St George, 13 Simple Verse, 5 Sheikhzayedroad, 1 Big Orange

R5 Britannia Stakes

Maths Prize ran into Khalidi when hat-trick seeking at the end of last season and just looked in need of the run behind Shutter Speed at Newbury first up. His form is very strong and can provide a Royal winner at a good price.

Leader’s Legacy was only having his third start when winning a good Haydock contest in a good time. He looks to have a nice future for Godolphin.

Colibri ran a blinder in a strong Sandown contest on handicap debut. He should come on significantly for the run and he’s run races in consistently quick times.

The Grape Escape is closely matched with Leader’s Legacy and Colibri from Haydock and Sandown.

Selections: 30 Maths Prize, 15 Leader's Legacy, 20 Colibri, 24 The Grape Escape

R6 King George V Stakes

Master Singer has always been highly regarded and has improved significantly on all three starts. The son of Giants Causeway ran third in a smart maiden at Newbury and then was in a different league in a Newcastle maiden but the time backed up the performance. The extra trip is a plus and he’s full of potential.

Atty Persse won in a tight finish at Sandown in a quick time and then ran into a smart looking colt at Haydock. This Frankel colt has shaped as though the extra distance will be a plus.

Homesman was second to the Irish 2000 Guineas third Irishcorrespondent at the Curragh and then took advantage of a weak field for a Group 3 at the same track. Dropping back to handicap company he has top-weight but brings strong form.

Reachforthestars improved significantly when winning in a quick time at Haydock. Ideally would prefer cut but is a very big price.

Selections: 5 Master Singer, 12 Atty Persse, 1 Homesman, 14 Reachforthestars
