Racecallers Anthony Collins and Mitch Manners will showcase their talent on two of the biggest days on the Australian racing calendar at Royal Randwick over the next two weeks.
Collins will call the Country Championships Final at Day 1 of The Championships this Saturday 1 April and Manners will call the Provincial Championships Final at Day 2 of The Championships on 8 April.
The calls will be broadcast around Australia on Sky Racing and Sky Sports Radio and the two men couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity. Collins said he never could’ve dreamt this opportunity would be possible.
“It’s a bit surreal that a boy from the bush gets to have a crack at the big time,” Collins said.
“I’m looking forward to representing not only Sky Racing on the day but also the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales that I normally cover.”
This is the second taste of Championship calling for Manners.
“Having tasted the experience of calling the Country Championships Final two years ago it’s an honour to represent Sky Racing again through the Provincial Series this year,” Manners said.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Randwick, I can’t wait!” Sky Racing Supervising Producer, Andrew Bensley said The Championships present some of the best racing in
Australia and is thrilled to see two worthy callers have the opportunity on the big stage.
“Anthony has been our Northern Rivers race caller for the past few years and has built great relationships with all race clubs. His calls are accurate and certainly show great enthusiasm,” he said.
“Mitch has become one of Sky's leading callers. He calls at all provincial clubs and Canterbury Friday night meetings. I’m thrilled for both men and wish them all the best with their calls.”
Viewers can catch all the action of The Championships direct from Royal Randwick on Sky Thoroughbred Central
(FOXTEL Channel 528).
