Tommy Berry has labelled his winning effort aboard Dan Excel in the Singapore Airlines International Cup as one of the most special of his career.
Riding for Hong Kong based Australian trainer, John Moore, Berry gifted Dan Excel a beautiful run in transit, proving too strong for French galloper Smoking Sun who ran on for second.
Berry dedicated the win to his late twin brother Nathan, who tragically passed away last month after contracting Norse syndrome while riding track work at Kranji.
In emotional scenes in the enclosure after the race, Berry revealed that he believed Nathan was with him on the night.
"This is where Nath was before he passed away. It's very special. I would like to thank everyone who supported him." Berry said.
"Nathan was here tonight."
Berry recently took up a three month riding contract in Hong Kong and hinted at plans to extend his current deal.
Dan Excel, the son of Shamardal, broke the 2000m track record at Kranji and will now be set for the Cox Plate.
