Fiorente, the horse that delivered Gai Waterhouse her first Melbourne Cup, has been retired.
The colt suffered a small tear to a tendon after finishing third to Silent Achiever in The BMW on the 5th of April .
Fiorente amassed over $6 million since being purchased by Waterhouse and brought to Australia in the Autumn of 2012.
In 2012, Firoente was runner up to Green Moon in the Melbourne Cup before going one better the following year.
The owners of Fiorente will now look at potential stud opportunities in Australia or overseas.
