Jo McKinnon leaves Sky Racing

 Jun 20 2012

Jo McKinnon has been a trail blazer for women in racing. Jo McKinnon, one of Sky Racing's most recognisable faces has announced that she will be relocating to Hong Kong at the end of the month and will be leaving the racing

Sky Racing Chief Operating Officer Brendan Parnell said Jo will be missed by Sky Racing viewers and the broadcaster's team.

"Jo has been a trail blazer for women in racing as a presenter on the first home racing channel (Sky Racing 1998), a senior executive with Moonee Valley Race Club and Aushorse as well as more recently being the senior presenter on flagship industry programs such as Racing Retro," Parnell said.

"Jo is extremely popular with viewers and will be a major loss for Australian racing and its many fans. We wish her well and hope one day to see her return to Australian TV screens."

Jo's relocation is for personal reasons and she decided now was the best time to make the move given the Racing Retro and Bred to Win are headed into recess.

"It has been a wonderful journey working with the team at Sky Racing and it has especially been a great honour to work on two of the flagship programs Racing Retro and Bred to Win," Jo said.

"I'm now looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life and career overseas.”

Bred to Win will return to screens on Friday August 4 and Racing Retro will return on Sunday August 5.

Good luck Jo!
