Roger Charlton's four-year-old was set to return to the Knavesmire as a major contender for the Group One feature following last month's victory in the Sky Bet York Stakes, but future plans are now on hold.
The trainer told his official website: "Time Test will not be running in the Juddmonte International at York next week."
He went on: "We weren't totally happy with his work this morning. He is likely to be given a short break before any future plans are made."
Despite Time Test's absence, the Beckhampton handler is likely to be well represented over the course of the four-day Ebor Festival.
Set to head the Charlton team is the hugely exciting Fair Eva.
The daughter of Frankel, already a hot favourite for next year's 1000 Guineas after impressing on each of her two starts to date, will step up to Group Two level in the Lowther Stakes on Thursday week.
Countermeasure, who has been deployed as a pacemaker for Time Test on his last two starts, will bid for top honours in the Strensall Stakes.
Discussing his plans for York, Charlton added: "Fair Eva worked well this morning and heads for the Lowther. George Baker rode her and was very happy. She won well at Ascot, in a good time and the Lowther sits well in the calendar.
"Imperial Aviator had a break after he ran in the French Derby, after jinking in the home straight. He is moving well and heads to the Great Voltigeur. It will be a tough race, as the programme book for three-year-olds like him is non-existent.
"Quest For More will return to York for the Lonsdale Cup next Friday. Hopefully he will get proper quick ground and a good pace, which disappeared an hour before his run in the Goodwood Cup. He is in great form and two miles is his favoured trip.
"Countermeasure will be entered in the Strensall Stakes on the Friday of York. He is working nicely and will get to run under his own steam."
