Nasty Harry looks nice

 Sep 13 2017

Quite a few of the runners in Race 7 at Kenilworth today have good credentials, but Nasty Harry looks best on his last two races.

The race is a MR 94 Handicap over 1200m, the distance of the Dynasty gelding’s second-last victory when he beat Mount Keith by a long head.

The runner-up has finished unplaced twice running since, but three of the horses who finished further back won their next outings, making the form look quite strong.

Nasty Harry went on to make all the running and hold New Caledonia (finished third next time) at bay in a 1400m race in testing going.

He reverts to shorter again but if jockey Greg Cheyne can replicate Corne Orffer’s tactics last time that should not pose a problem and Nasty Harry looks a Quartet banker.

Orffer has chosen the Brett Crawford stable’s other runner in the race, Boldly Respectable, who is obviously expected to improve on his last run. That was his comeback from a short break and he could only manage a ninth behind Cuban Emerald. He had Power Grid, Fifty Cents and Rock Of Africa ahead of him that day and on paper has his work cut out.

Rock Of Africa ran below his best that day and should also improve. He was only recently back from a winter campaign in KwaZulu-Natal, where he recorded a win and two placings from as many starts.

Blackmore should also be considered for a place. He has had two runs following a layoff, winning his first start back and then running on for fourth behind Black Cat Back over 1400m in July.

Line Break and Starflash, providing he is fit after a 158-day break, are two others who could shape. Line Break was not striding and coughed when well beaten by Black Cat Back in June but went on to run fourth behind Power Grid following a slow start. He can do better.

Also consider Mutz and Foxy Princess for places
