The Spy Files with Tony Brassel 18/02/2019

Sky Racing’s form expert, TONY BRASSEL, checks out all the slashing trials and eye-catching early morning efforts.

Before final fields are declared, 'Brass' rates his best barrier triallers possibly going around in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this Saturday.

Check out all the trials in the Catch Up section of the Sky Racing website or on the Sky Racing Active App.

BIVOUAC (Pictured)

(Oakleigh Plate, 1100m, Caulfield / Zeditave Stakes, 1200m, Caulfield)

Cruised around for a narrow trial win at Rosehill last month. Has been in the placings all three goes fresh and a choice G1 win would go down a treat on his CV. A fashionable stallion career awaits!

(Spark Of Life Handicap, 1100m, Rosehill)

This LONHRO filly won her first two starts at Kyneton and Bendigo before a Flemington defeat during the Cup Carnival. Spelled and now she’s back in ‘beaut’ order, coming off a fourth at the Warwick Farm trials on February 3.

(Oakleigh Plate, 1100m, Caulfield / Millie Fox Stake, 1300m, Rosehill)

Godolphin’s blue juggernaut has been trialling up a storm and this winner of the inaugural $1 million Hunter at Newcastle ran a soft second in her Warwick Farm trial recently. A three-time winner first-up and big and strong enough to carry weight.

(Hobartville Stakes, 1400m, Rosehill)

Runner-up to the mighty LYS GRACIEUX in the Cox Plate, he’s the classiest colt in the country at three. Don’t be put off by a seventh of eight in Bivouac’s January 28, Rosehill trial – he warmed up very, very nicely near the post.

(Millie Fox Stakes, 1300m, Rosehill)

Another Lonhro miss for Team Godolphin. Relishes wet turf and hit a high note winning a Flemington stakes race during November’s Cup Carnival. She went through the motions (without being pressured), for fifth to KIAMICHI in a Rosehill trial.

Head to the TAB website for all this weekend’s markets and form.

(Spark Of Life Handicap, 1100m, Rosehill)

Tiny SNITZEL filly bouncing off two very easy Randwick trials. Team Snowden invariably has her primed when fresh and there was much to like about a sixth at the gigantic Randwick trial session earlier this week.

(Millie Fox Stakes, 1300m, Rosehill / James Ruse Handicap, 1400m, Rosehill)

Aussie Bloodstock’s mare ran sixth of seven in a Newcastle trial, but the brakes were on throughout. A two-time winner first-up and trained by Kris Lees, her massive frequent flyer tally comes from racing in the USA, England, Scotland, Germany and France.

(Parramatta Cup, 1900m, Rosehill)

Ran a distant last in a Warwick Farm trial but he ambled around under a Nash Rawiller grip. No blinkers that morning, but they’ll be there raceday and that headgear switched him on the take the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy (2400m) last month.

(Silver Slipper Stakes, 1100m, Rosehill)

An unraced $800,000 Melbourne Premier yearling coming off impressive Melbourne and Sydney hit-outs. Last week Hawkes Racing unveiled OLE KIRK for a debut win and this BRAZEN BEAU colt has trialled better. Closely related to four-time Group 1 winner METAL BENDER, he’s out to ‘do a GOLD BROSE’ - win the Silver Slipper at start number one.
