Presenters
JOHN TAPP
John was the voice and face of Sydney racing for more than 30 years before retiring in 1998. His iconic status in the industry makes him a huge asset at Sky where he presents 'John Tapp's Inside Racing' and co-hosts 'In The Gig'.
GRAHAM McNEICE
Part of Sky's original on-air team in 1986, Graham is one of Australia's most respected sports broadcasters and documentary makers. He now produces special racing programs for Sky and helps develop the younger presenters and race callers.
ANDREW BENSLEY
Andrew’s news background with the Nine Network was a great asset when he joined Sky Racing in 1998. In the ensuing years he’s established himself as the premier news man of racing.
MATTHEW BROWNING
Matthew joined the Sky Racing team in 1996 after nine years in radio. He has a strong racing heritage and is one of Sky Racing's most popular and authorative presenters.
GREG RADLEY
After a lengthy reign as host of 'Raceday' on Sky Sports Radio, Greg made a smooth transition to Sky Racing where he anchors the irreverent 'Off the Rails'. He also presents on Sky Racing World and hosts trackside at big meetings.
CHRIS KEARNS
Apart from his passion for racing, Chris has an incredible knowledge of popular music from his years as a DJ on Sydney radio. A great all-rounder, he’s a regular host of 'Raceday'.
RICHARD FREEDMAN
Richard is a member of the renowned F.B.I. (Freedman Brothers Incorporated) racing stables. He is an insightful, outspoken and, sometimes, outrageous member of the 'Racing Retro' team and is now a regular on 'Raceday'.
TONY BRASSEL
Tony has more than two decades as a racing journalist and form expert. He co-hosts 'Inside Running' and 'Trials and Tribulations' where his opinions are admired widely.
ANDREW LE JEUNE
Andrew is the producer and host of Sky Racing’s International program, 'Racing Round The World'. After working at National Hunt racing in the UK he migrated to Australia in 2004.
MICHAEL FRASER
Sydney-born but Queensland-bred, Michael has enjoyed a long and varied career in racing, as a jockey, punter and form assessor. One of our resident form analysts he co-hosts 'Inside Running' on Saturdays.
JASON WITHAM
Before joining Sky Racing he worked for 13 years at the TAB in a diversity of roles. This gave Jason a wealth of industry knowledge, which is reflected in his smooth and intelligent on-air presentation. He is a regular Host of 'Raceday' and 'Inside Running', and joins Tony Brassel each week for 'Trials and Tribulations'.
DAVE CARLSON
Dave's on-air presentation is informative and, hopefully, lucrative for viewers. He hosts 'The Punting Club' and Sky Racing's dedicated Greyhound program 'The Catching Pen', and can also be seen as a Host on 'Raceday'.
Adam Hamilton
A Melbourne-based racing journalist Adam is a harness racing guru. He’s had a lengthy association with Sky’s coverage of major harness carnivals in Australia and New Zealand, and is also a regular panelist on ‘In the Gig’.
RON DUFFICY
A former jockey, Ron is an astute form analyst and successful racehorse owner. His incisive and, sometimes, cheeky observations can be heard on Sky Sports Radio, and on 'Racing Retro', where his verbal sparring with Richard Freedman is legendary.
ALF MATTHEWS
After a successful career as a Group One-winning jockey, Alf has established himself as a respected racing commentator. He is one of our Melbourne form experts and a regular on 'Formline'.
MARK GUEST
Melbourne-born and based, Mark is one of our Victorian thoroughbred form experts. He is also a regular on ‘Inside Running’.
LARRY OLSEN
Larry is one of a handful of jockeys to win both the Melbourne Cup and the Golden Slipper. He is Sky's Brisbane race day form analyst.
Greg Hayes
A great all-rounder, Greg’s general sports knowledge is matched only by his racing expertise. An important member of the ‘In The Gig’ team, he can also be found hosting 'Raceday'.
David Raphael
From broadcasting provincials in Victoria, he scaled the illustrious heights of chief race broadcaster in Hong Kong where he called home greats like ‘Silent Witness’. David is one of the key presenters on Sky Racing World and hosts major international meetings.
Mike McCann
Boasting a vast and impressive sports commentating background, Mike is a key member of the Sky Racing on-air team. The professionalism developed over many years as a broadcaster is evident in his presentation of ‘Raceday’ and ‘Inside Running’.
Michael Maxworthy
Originally from Sydney, Michael has extensive experience in the media. A career based in radio saw him eventually make the transition to race broadcaster and TV host in Singapore. He is our Asian racing specialist.
Bernadette Cooper
A successful career in the saddle has given her enormous credibility as a host and analyst. Bernadette’s expert opinions and insight into Brisbane racing and nearby provincials have proved invaluable.
Jo McKinnon
One of the most recognisable racing journalists in Australia, Jo was there when Sky first beamed pictures into homes via Foxtel in 1998. Her busy schedule includes hosting 'Raceday', 'Bred To Win', and also Sky’s flagship program, ‘Racing Retro’.
Corey Brown
A Melbourne Cup-winning jockey still riding with verve and vigour, Corey is also a natural in front of the camera and a regular on the popular, ‘Off The Rails’, where he mixes insightful comment with playful irreverence.
Oliver Bell
Born in England, he has worked as a journalist with the ‘Racing Post’ and independent production companies in the UK. A former presenter on Racing UK, Oliver hosts Sky’s expanding international coverage.
Grant Boyden
A versatile and talented broadcaster, Grant is a regular 'Raceday' host. He's also well versed in another brand of horsepower – motor racing – where his dulcet tones can be heard above the sound of reverberating engines.
Danny Matthews
A journalist and newsreader hailing from Victorian radio, Danny is one of our stable of informative and highly professional presenters on ‘Raceday’.
Gareth Hall
A former producer/ reporter for the Nine Network in Melbourne, Gareth boasts a solid news reporting background, which is reflected in his incisive 'Raceday' presentation.
Christy Johns
From a background in radio, Christy has settled neatly in the saddle as our news presenter on ‘Raceday’, as well as Sky’s various magazine programs and also hosts our dedicated Country racing program, Off The Beaten Track.
Malcolm Johnston
Regarded as one of the greats, 'Miracle' Malcolm Johnston (a nickname he bestowed upon himself) has transformed himself from a champion jockey to a multi-media personality.
Best known for his association with champion galloper Kingston Town, Malcolm can now be heard on Sky Sports Radio Inside Running program each Sunday morning, and is one of the 'three musketeer's' on Sky Racing's popular Television program, Off The Rails, which screens each Tuesday night.
Racecallers
ALAN THOMAS
Alan has wide experience calling major sports events for radio and television, but his first love is racing. He is Sky's principal Queensland race caller and correspondent.
MATTHEW HILL
Matthew was the inaugural winner of the 'John Tapp Racecalling Scholarship' in 1999. He is now our No. 1 race caller in Sydney where his exciting and accurate descriptions are renowned.
PAUL AMBROSOLI
Paul is Australia's best-known greyhound race caller. Beginning his career in 1968 his voice has become synonymous with Sydney greyhound racing.
KEVIN THOMPSON
Kevin calls harness racing at a variety of tracks in NSW for Sky Racing and Sky Sports Radio. He has enjoyed a love affair with the sport since he first attended a Harold Park meeting in 1965.
ROD FULLER
Rod has more than 20 years of experience as a race caller. He is the main caller for many northern New South Wales race tracks.
JOSH FLEMING
Hailing from country Queensland, Josh was the second recipient of the ‘John Tapp Race Calling Scholarship’ in 2003. Such is his talent he’s now a full time caller at Sky Racing,
FRED HASTINGS
It’s not often that you have the chance to fulfill a life long goal but Fred has done exactly that! As the #1 harness race caller for Sky Sports Radio and Sky Racing he's 'living the dream'.
HILTON DONALDSON
Hilton joined Sky after working as a race caller with 3UZ in Melbourne and 5AA in Adelaide. He’s Sky's Adelaide-based, South Australian race caller and correspondent.
MITCHELL MANNERS
The third recipient of the ‘John Tapp Scholarship’, he’s a graduate of what is colloquially called ‘The Alan Thomas Academy for Race Callers’. The son of a former jockey, his breeding backs up his talent.
John McDermott
For four decades John has been the voice of racing in the Hunter region of New South Wales. His great love is calling greyhounds where his contribution has been acknowledged by the NCA with a race in his honour, 'The Macca'.
Brett Considine
A lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Macquarie University, Brett always harboured an ambition to be a race broadcaster. While still very much the student, he’s a caller with great potential.
Luke Marlow
The latest recipient of the John Tapp Race Caller Scholarship, Luke hails from Rockhampton in central Queensland. His youth belies his experience, because apart from an innate skill to call races he has assisted his parents on their thoroughbred stud and regularly rode track work for his father who has a trainer's licence.
