Brent began with a passion for harness racing via his family’s racing and breeding interests. Armed with a journalism degree, in 2006, Brent landed a coveted thoroughbred racing writers’ role. As a cadet journalist at Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, Brent gleaned race-writing tips and grew under one of the best race pressmen in the game, in the paper’s racing editor, Ray Thomas. His seven year stint there armed him for action on the television screen, and was snapped up by TVN where he became a popular and professional on-air presenter. Making the switch to Sky Racing (Thoroughbred Racing Central) Brent will be an exciting addition to the Racing Retro team each Sunday. While mid-week Brent will co- host Sydney metropolitan race meetings with Greg Radley, as well as covering track work in Sydney with on-course news and interviews.
Joins Sky Racing with 18 years of thoroughbred racing and breeding industry experience. His previous roles range from racing manager to bloodstock and pedigree consultant. Richard has become one of thoroughbred racing media’s most well-respected television presenters. Formerly with TVN since 2008, Richard has been a popular host of a number of television shows, who performs well in an ‘on course’ environment, interviewing Australia’s leading trainers, jockeys and owners live.
Since having joined the Sky Sports Radio stable, Jimmy's versatility has been a valuable asset. Graduating to the media after an 11-year professional rugby league career, he has successfully transferred his on-field vitality to television and radio. His regular role is co-host of Big Sports Breakfast Weekend and during the summer months Jimmy, co-hosts Big Sports Breakfast Summer with Stuart Clark.
A former jockey, he effortlessly changed gait to be panellist on Sky Racing's Racing Retro and earned an enviable reputation as a top thoroughbred authority on Sky Sports Radio. From plying the whip to trying the tip, his talent for selecting a winner is evident as the late mailman from metropolitan tracks and as co-host with Andrew Bensley of the Racing HQ Saturday preview program. Caroline is credited with 25 years of media experience. Her beginnings came on the radio waves, prior to her move to the television screen. Fox Sports Australia secured her for 11 years as an on-air presenter and senior producer. Eventually, her passion for thoroughbreds swept her into industry waters, where she transferred her television talent to TVN. Recognised and respected for her thoroughbred knowledge and commentary, for the past 10 years, Caroline hosted metropolitan races and carnivals in both Sydney and Melbourne, as well as various magazine programs. Caroline will perform similar on-air roles and be a valuable addition to Sky Racing talent team.
With a career at Sky Racing that dates back to the mid-1990’s, Mark Duclos is the network’s greyhound expert. As well as being the co-host of The Catching Pen and the host of Going Greyhounds on Sky Sports Radio, Mark travels the nation anchoring Sky Racing’s coverage of the feature greyhound events
A consummate radio professional, Tanya boasts more than 20 years of experience in the radio industry. She now is a vital part of the Big Sports Breakfast Weekend production team. Utilising her previous experience in radio news rooms, she presents several bulletins with all of the latest sporting news during the three-hour program.
Andy is known at Sky Sports Radio as 'Mr Soccer'. If something's happening in the world game then Andy is the first person to reveal it to the Big Sports Breakfast listeners. He has previously worked with the likes of SBS TV and Fox Sports. One of Australia's leading football broadcasters, Andy has presented and reported major football events including the 1990 & 1994 World Cup finals and the 1996 & 2000 European Championships. Andy can be heard daily at 7.20am on the Big Sports Breakfast.
John was the voice and face of Sydney racing for more than 30 years before retiring in 1998. His iconic status in the industry makes him a huge asset at Sky Racing. He currently presents John Tapp's Inside Racing and co-hosts our harness racing program In The Gig.
From glamour jockey to rascally raconteur – it has been an easy transition for the man who calls himself ‘Miracle'. He provides insightful slant on racing during the racing segment of Big Sports Breakfast Weekend from 7am and lends his talents to television for Off the Rails on Sky Racing each Tuesday. As a jockey he won three premierships, one as an apprentice and is best known for his association with one of the all-time greats, Kingston Town.
Chief Sports writer at The Sydney Morning Herald, has been writing about international and Australia sports in a variety of publications for more than 15 years. His bright, breezy and informative writing style has been adroitly adapted to his appearances on radio and TV. Andrew co-hosts the Big Sports Breakfast with Terry Kennedy on Friday mornings during the rugby league season.
After working at National Hunt Racing in the UK, Andrew migrated to Australia in 2004 and has been a valued member of the Sky Racing team ever since providing expert knowledge in our coverage of International Thoroughbred racing .
Matthew joined the Sky Racing team in 1996 after nine years in radio. He has a strong racing heritage and is seen regularly on Sky Racing's Raceday programme as well as hosting Racing Retro.
After a formidable career in radio and television, Dave Carlson now hosts Sky Raceday and Racenight programmes as well as our dedicated greyhound racing program, The Catching Pen.
Alice has been a part of the racing and radio industry for over ten years. An ardent rugby league and racing enthusiast, she is a racing and sports producer and can be heard reading the scratchings from time to time.
Shawn Cosgrove has relished a radio and television career of more than 30 years. He started at Radio 3UZ in Melbourne during the mid 70s coordinating races on air when his station confreres were Don Lane, Bert Newton, Bert Bryant and Ugly Dave Gray. Later he transferred to music radio at 3KZ, GOLD FM and Easy Listening 3MP. For good measure, for many years, he was the “Come on Down” voice-over man on the TV show, The Price is Right. However, throughout his long media career, Shawn’s love of racing was undiminished and he is revelling in a return to all codes of racing on Sky Sports Radio. Shawn hosts Racing HQ every Tuesday and is part of the National Racing Service team.
An avid racing and sports enthusiast with a particular penchant for picking winners, Ashleigh joined the Sky Sports Radio team in 2010. A Sports media graduate, she has more than 10 years innvolvement in the radio and television industry. In addition to being the producer of Punters Post Mortem, Racing HQ and National Racing Serviceher dulcet tones may be heard reading the scratchings for race meetings during the weekly racing review program.
Glenn started with TAB.COM.AU back in 1999 and has been around the racetracks practically from birth as the son of former renowned jockey Norm Munsie. Glenn is the Sydney face and voice of TAB informing customers of all the latest sports and racing updates. His feature tasks include co-host of The Punting Club on Sky Racing and providing all of the latest betting trends for main metropolitan meetings during Racing HQ every Saturday morning.
Racing editor of the Daily and Sunday Telegraph he is one of the most respected racing journalists in Australia. Ray is a regular on the racing segment on Big Sports Breakfast Weekend. His insightful news and views add considerable authority to Sky Sports Radio's racing programs. Ray also appears periodically on Sky Racing's Inside Running.
Melbourne-born, Paul developed a keen interest in racing and radio from a young age. After having met Ron Hawkswell he was encouraged to pursue race calling and then he gained part time radio work with 3UZ (now Radio Sport National) and at the ABC assisting Greg Miles. Ultimately he gained full-time employment with Triple S FM in Canberra then 2KY (now Sky Sports Radio )in Sydney. Paul considers he is fortunate to be doing a job that he enjoys in presenting racing to our SSR audience. Apart from studio work, Paul recently celebrated 30 years of calling the picnic meetings at Dederang in north-east Victoria.
Born in Perth, Simon moved to Sydney in 1987. As a youngster he harboured a desire to become a news reader but later an enthusiasm for racing emerged. On finishing High School he spent five-nights a week in the 2KY Parramatta studios learning the craft of race coordinating and ABC broadcaster Mike Broadhurst helped develop and refine his vocal skills. Simon now is the afternoon presenter of the national racing service on Sky Sports Radio. In his own words, ''bringing the races to the people'' is his daily passion.
Before joining Sky Racing, Jason worked for 13 years at the TAB in a range of roles. This gave Jason a wealth of industry knowledge, which is reflected in his smooth and intelligent on-air presentation. He is a regular host of Raceday and Inside Running.
As panel operator Jono has the unenviable and, sometimes, unpredictable task of guiding TK and Slats through three and a half hours of live breakfast radio. Jono’s radio career started in 1998 with Austereo and two years later he joined Sky Sports Radio. After stints with other commercial networks he returned to Sky Sports Radio as panel operator for the Big Sports Breakfast. In his spare time Jono has proved to be talented in the voice over field and a fantastic host of the Monday to Friday 5am to 5.30program, The Best of the Big Sports Breakfast.
In his former capacity as a Melbourne-based journalists, Adam covered gallops and harness racing for the Herald-Sun newspaper and had a lengthy association with the Sky coverage of major harness racing carnivals in Australia and New Zealand as well as appearances on In the Gig. Now Adam is seen and heard even more regularly on Sky Racing and Sky Sports Radio following his career change to Melbourne based Media Manager of TAB.
In 2000, Mario joined the Big Sports Breakfast team and in 2005 he became the Executive Producer. Mario shoulders the responsibility for the daily preparation of the Big Sports Breakfast which he transforms into an entertaining and informative tapestry that hits the airwaves. As personal Barista to the boys he keeps the flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes flowing throughout the program. Prior to his radio career Mario had aspirations to be an actor, sadly these dreams were misguided as his career peaked when he was the guy zipping up dead bodies in the TV series Water Rats. In 2000 he was one of the extras seen dying in a plane crash in Mission Impossible 2, this on screen death also marked the end of his acting career. Mario now spends his spare time on the committee of charity Save our Sons a cause close to his heart.
Sydney-born but Queensland-bred, Michael has enjoyed a long and varied career in racing, as a jockey, punter and form assessor. He is one of our resident form analysts who co-hosts Inside Running on Saturdays.
Mark is one of our Melbourne-based thoroughbred form experts. He has a great passion for racing and is a regular on Inside Running.
A former producer/reporter for the Nine Network in Melbourne, Gareth boasts a solid news reporting background which is reflected in his incisive Raceday presentation and he is now a regular panellist on our dedicated Harness racing programme, In The Gig.
Originally from Sydney, Michael has extensive experience in the media including radio, race broadcasting and TV host in Singapore. He is our Asian racing specialist.
Boasting a vast and impressive sports commentating background, Mike is a key member of the Sky Racing on-air team. The professionalism developed over many years as a broadcaster is evident in his presentation of Raceday and Inside Running.
Gavin Carmody joined Sky Racing on a full-time basis in 2011 after spending 10 years as a producer of Australia's most successful radio program, the Alan Jones Breakfast Show on 2GB. Gavin has racing in his blood with his brother, Craig, a former successful jockey who rode multiple Group One winners and who is now a trainer.
Following a career on community radio in Brisbane, David instigated his own racing radio segment. A self-motivator, he developed his career into an advertising and publicity role, combining his racing knowledge and media skills. With a family instilled respect for horse racing, David entered and became a finalist in the 2013 Sky’s Star Search competition. He was recruited to take on a Sky Racing presenter role, his dream job, and now David chairs race days and nights on Sky Racing 1 & 2.
Award winning radio presenter, Andrew took out the prestigious ACRA radio industry honour in 2006. A well-known voice across Sydney’s sports airwaves for over 20 years, Andrew spent eleven of those years at Nova 969, following his media beginnings on radio 2GB and 2UE. A passionate horse racing fan, with a lifetime of interest in racing, Andrew is an enthusiastic Sky race day host and can be seen on Sky 1 presenting The Punting Club.
Part of Sky's original on-air team in 1986, Graham is one of Australia's most respected sports broadcasters and documentary makers. He now produces special racing programs for Sky Racing and helps develop young presenters and race callers.
'Miracle' Malcolm Johnston (a nickname he bestowed upon himself) has transformed from a champion jockey to a multi-media personality. Best known for his association with champion galloper Kingston Town, Malcolm can be heard on Sky Sports Radio's ‘Big Sports Breakfast Weekend’ and was a regular panellist on Off The Rails.
